Asbestos Awareness Training is mandatory for all employees and contractors who are likely to come into contact with asbestos. Typically, workers who are likely to interfere with the fabric of a building, built pre 1999, are likely to come into contact with asbestos.
It is essential that anyone who comes into contact with asbestos knows what it is, what it does to you and how to avoid disturbing it.

As well as informing you about the risks of working with asbestos, the course will deliver information about recognising asbestos, where it's used, minimising the risks and the legislation about working with asbestos, as well as:
- Define the properties of asbestos
- Health effects
- Types and uses of asbestos in buildings and everyday items
- How to avoid the risks from asbestos
- The general procedures to be followed to deal with an emergency uncontrolled release of fibres
This course meets the statutory requirements of the relevant legislation, whether local or UK, and other relevant statutory provisions and approved Codes of Practice including Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012.

TEACHING AND ASSESSMENT
The course is delivered through a combination of classroom-based tutorials. You will be assessed through theory. All of our trainers are accredited.
The non-equipment based courses can normally accommodate 6 candidates depending on the course and level of experience.
As with all of our courses, we ask if the candidates can read and understand English. We can provide a translator for the entire course or just for the theory if necessary, but there is an extra charge and we need to know this at the booking stage.
QUALIFICATIONS / CERTIFICATION
Upon successfully completing the course you will be awarded a 4safety certificate. 4safety's Asbestos Awareness course is accredited by NPORS.

Novice: 4 hours
Re-certification: 4 hours
